Xiaomi officially announced the launch of their custom ROM MIUI 12.5 back on February 8, 2021. Since then, it has been rolling out updates on their eligible devices. As of now, MIUI 12.5 has been in the market for a while. It is quite a good time to review MIUI 12.5 based on its performance and some new features.

User responses to the updates:

Users were quite overwhelmed when Xiaomi announced their new skin for their device back in February. However, things changed rapidly as soon as the user updated their device to MIUI 12.5. Here we will see the issues faced by various users one by one.

Issues faced by users:

1. Notification texts are black in color

Now, as most of the phones are coming with dark mode and most of us using dark mode, it is a problem if the notification texts are also in black color on a dark background. Users find it difficult to read the texts from the notification, and they are reluctant to switch from dark mode.

2. Unable to turn on or turn off their device

Multiple Poco M3 owners repeatedly complained that they could not turn off or turn on their devices after updating their devices.


2. Consuming too much power

Again the problem was first reported by a Poco user. Poco F2 Pro, Poco Mi 10, Xiaomi 10 complained about the battery consumption after the update. This problem also shows that the device is generating unnecessary cache memory.


3. Unresponsive touch issue

Users from Indonesia and European regions reported that the device is creating an unresponsive floating window. Also, the skin is not as responsive as before the update.


4. Random reboots

The device starts rebooting randomly after the updates. The issue is generally predominant with Redmi Note 9S, Redmi Note 9, and Redmi  Note 8.


5. Unable to change wallpaper

Few users have reported that they are unable to change the wallpapers of their phones. Even the theme is unable to change the wallpaper of their phone. Google's wallpaper is also not working. Neither image from the gallery can be used as wallpaper. The issue was noticed in the devices of Redmi note 8 and note 8 pro devices.





6. Broken gesture

The gestures seem to be broken after the update. Much Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro users complain about the broken gesture after the update.





7. Unable to reply to chats from notification

Users from India and the South East Asia region complain that they can not reply to whats app text from the notification as before the update. This seems a problem when there are multiple messages from a single app.



With the announcement of companies, new skin Xiaomi took the spotlight back in February 2021 as their skin is one of the feature reach skin for phones. Now they seriously need to invest time in providing bug-free and clutter-free experience to the user. 

The Chinese-based company also announces their nest Skin MIUI 13 earlier next year. We can hope that before releasing the next update they fix these issues.
